SHOP CALLS : ADRIFT
Once a week we give a call to a Canadian shop to see check in on the state of retail, what is buzzing under their roof and in their area. When I was out east a couple days last week I touched base with Mike at Adrift in Toronto.

What's happening in the shop?
We have been working on doing more Adrift clothing and its really worked out well so far. The margins are obviously much better and it's also advertising for the store as well. Aside from that, we are working on our summer events such as the now infamous booty shaking contest, which gets bigger every year. As far as categories in-store, we are always trying to expand in footwear as well as there is a lack of good shoe stores in Toronto, so there is an opportunity there for us as far as I can see.
What brands are you guys seeing success with right now?
In footwear we have been doing well with Nike and Vans, although CONS and adidas is very strong for us as well. Penfield, Cheap Monday, Levi's and Naked & Famous have are our main clothing brands.
What are you guys listening to these days?
Well, of course, we have been listening to a lot of Morrissey and The Smiths, as always hahaa. We have also been super into some guys from Toronto that we are down with that go by The Weeknd. What blogs are you guys checking on?
I'm not the biggest follower of blogs, although I follow Hypebeast and check blogs like the Sartorialist and whatnot from time to time.
