Once a week we give a call to a Canadian shop to see check in on the state of retail, what is buzzing under their roof and in their area. This week I Caught Matt from Still Life in Victoria just finishing up a side project in his woodshop at home.

What's happening in the shop?
Sales seem to be turning the corner for us and people seem to be out shopping more regularly.
What brands are you guys seeing success with right now?
We are selling a hell of a lot of Nudie Jeans for men and women, Native and Clae Shoes, Penfield and James Perse. La Fee Verte is a new canadian womens brand that we are seeing some pretty good success with as well.
What are you guys listening to these days?
That jumps around, but we keep to safe stuff like Broken Bells & Ray LaMontagne. We have recently banned all Kanye West though, so you won't be hearing Weezy at our store anymore.
What blogs are you guys checking on?
Inventory, ACL, eightyfoureightyfive, Mr. Mort for fun and Hypebeast to keep up with the mainstream.
